The Chinese Journal of Environmental Law aims to conduct international, comparative, and diversified research on environmental laws and policies in Asian countries such as China, as well as in developing countries. It focuses on institutional construction, compliance, and enforcement issues in areas such as biodiversity law, climate change law, energy law, environmental impact assessment law, marine environmental law, natural resources law, planning law, pollution prevention and control law, and environmental courts.

The publication has established an internationally renowned advisory and editorial committee, consisting of well-known environmental law scholars, judges, and lawyers from top universities at home and abroad, including Cambridge University, UC Berkeley, University of Maryland, Pace University, University of Leuven, Ghent University, Kyoto University, Maastricht University, as well as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, National Taiwan University, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The editorial department is established based on the Institute of Environmental Law at Wuhan University, and has dedicated researchers from multiple universities, including foreign editors and Chinese editors with overseas study and research experience. In addition, the editorial board of this journal also includes several other international editors, including experts from multiple environmental law research centers, who provide important support for the development of the journal, manuscript collection, and article review.
