Chung Wai Literary Quarterly is an academic journal founded by the Department of Foreign Languages at National Taiwan University. Since its inception, it has been a pioneer in the field of comparative literature. The magazine was initially published in monthly form, but later changed to quarterly publication in 2007. This journal focuses on comparative research of Chinese and Western literature, as well as critical theory and cultural studies. The magazine has won recognition from Chinese scholars and researchers worldwide for its high-quality academic content and international perspective. It has not only published specialized articles on Western literature (including Bible studies, Anglo American literature, European literature, Asian American literature, etc.), but also research in various fields such as Asian and other foreign literature, Taiwanese culture and literature, postcolonial and cross-cultural studies, translation studies, film studies, literary theory, etc. The magazine encourages interdisciplinary dialogue, promotes innovative development in literature and theoretical research, and enhances the relevance of comparative literature and theoretical research in the contemporary world.

Its readership mainly includes scholars, researchers, university teachers and students, as well as a wide range of readers interested in Chinese and Western literature, comparative literature, critical theory, and cultural studies. These readers typically have a higher educational background and a strong interest in in-depth literary analysis and cross-cultural academic dialogue. The magazine provides a platform for these readers to understand and discuss literary theory and practice by publishing high-quality academic articles and research.
